Top Windows Mobile news of the week: No Android bridge, Xamarin bought, HP Elite X3
The folks in Redmond upped the cross-platform apps effort with the purchase of Xamarin. The acquisition gets MS the tools to help developers using Microsoft C# build apps for Windows, iOS, Android, and the Mac. HP’s smartphone uses the Continuum feature of Windows 10 to turn into a desktop and laptop. This is accomplished using a dock on the desk, and HP plans to release a special laptop that uses the phone for the CPU. Microsoft no longer plans to release a bridge to get Android apps ported to Windows 10. It will continue to provide tools to get iOS and Win32 apps onto Windows 10.
