In the last two years, as Apple has focused on mobile devices, Microsoft has developed a series of computers that reimagine the future of PCs, according to a New York Times technology writer. Yes, Microsoft took a $900 million write-off for unsold Surfaces five years ago and a $7.6 billion write-off from its Nokia acquisition.
