Nintendo Switch to get Xbox Live achievements with Minecraft update

Minecraft continues to expand across a variety of gaming platforms, bound together with cross-platform features, multiplayer and purchases. Following the Better Together update, Xbox One, Windows 10, mobile and VR users were unified, standardizing the experience under the game’s “Bedrock” versions. While Nintendo Switch was announced among the platforms receiving the update too, the merge is yet to be seen six months later. It now appears that Xbox Live achievements are on their way to the Nintendo Switch, as a part of an upcoming update for Minecraft.

iMovie for iOS updated for iPhone X, now uses Metal for graphics processing

iMovie for iOS Gains Support for iPhone X Display and Adopts Metal for Graphics Processing

iMovie for iOS was today updated to version 2.2.5, introducing long-awaited support for the full screen edge-to-edge display of the iPhone X.Along with iPhone X display support, today’s update also adopts Metal for graphics processing, and it improves overall stability. Apple says installing the new version of iMovie requires iOS 11.2 or later.Since the iPhone X launched in November, iMovie was one of the major Apple apps that had not been updated with support for the new display, forcing iMovie users to deal with black bars on their flagship devices.

Enable Cookies in Chrome on iOS

We have lots of guides for enabling and disabling Cookies in different browsers on different platforms, however, Google have decided that on mobile devices: namely the iOS and Android platforms, that they won’t allow cookies to be disabled! We don’t have a guide for enabling (or disabling) Cookies in Chrome on iOS because that option doesn’t exist! While cookies are admittedly very important for using most modern websites, a lot of people still want to be able to disable them or at least control their options regarding cookies.

App gap: New PWAs will not work on Windows 10 Mobile

For those who were hoping the move towardswould make Windows 10 Mobile rise from the grave , this may come as bad news. The new PWAs hitting the Microsoft Store will not be fully functional in Edge mobile. It is reported that while some apps launch but are missing functionality; some do not work at all. A major feature that seems to be missing from all PWAs on Mobile deals with notifications. On Windows Mobile, the apps are unable to display any sort of notification in the notification center. This is obviously a key feature of any app and seriously cripples the functionality for users.

And while Microsoft has started added such PWAs to the Microsoft Store, the truth is that they will not be fully functional on Windows 10 Mobile powered handsets thanks to some missing parts in the mobile Edge engine.For example, the version of Edge found on Windows Mobile 10 handsets can not access service workers, which prevents users from receiving notifications in the action center.

Future versions of Windows 10 will show battery level of Bluetooth accessories

Windows 10 is playing catchup with other mobile operating systems, report Windows Report, with a new feature available in Skip Ahead builds. They report that Windows 10 RS 5 (in particular build 17639 available in Skip Ahead) will now show you the battery life of selected Bluetooth accessories such as the Surface Pen in settings. Not all devices are supported, but this would finally bring the OS on par with what has been available on iOS for some years now.

Google reportedly working on non-algorithmic YouTube Kids app

If you’re not familiar with it, YouTube Kids is a mobile and TV app designed to only show child-appropriate content. However, YouTube Kids filters content using algorithms, so inappropriate content sometimes slips through. Conspiracy theories, suggestive videos depicting superhero/Disney characters, and other harmful content has been known to appear on the app. At long last, Google is developing a version of YouTube Kids that only shows content manually approved by Google, according to a report from BuzzFeed.
