Windows 10 Insider preview build 15061 is out for PC, here are the known issues

Just a day after build 15060 rolled out to Insiders, the team has quickly followed up with another. Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15061 is rolling out now into the Fast ring. It’s worth noting that this build has the same known issues as yesterday’s build. In case you missed it, here is the list: It’s no surprise that they pushed out the update as quickly as possible given the looming Windows 10 Creators Update expected to hit RTM within the month. Meanwhile, Windows 10 Mobile build planned for today is delayed due to a nasty bug.

Man died after charging iPhone in the bath

A coroner is to warn Apple that iPhone chargers can be potentially lethal after a man was electrocuted in the bath. Richard Bull, 32, was charging his phone next to the tub when it accidentally fell into the water. He was found by his wife Tanya, who thought her husband had been attacked because his burns were so severe. She made a distraught call to the police, who found that Mr Bull had used an extension lead from the hallway of his Ealing home so he could use the phone in the bath.

Galaxy Note5 gets Android Nougat update in Turkey, should spread to other markets soon

Today Samsung has started rolling out the update to Android Nougat for Galaxy Note5 units sold in Turkey. This follows similar rollouts for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, which have commenced earlier this month. The presence of Nougat on Note5 units in the wild in Turkey means that you should expect the update to hit other markets very soon. Samsung’s rollouts usually go country by country, but once they start in a region they go out pretty quickly. As you can see from the screenshot to the left, the Nougat update comes over-the-air as a 1.3GB download.

Windows 10 will now download some updates automatically over metered connections

Last year there was a number of stories about organizations suffering crippling data charges after Windows 10 started to download updates automatically over their cellular or satellite data connections. It seemed at first Microsoft has learned their lesson, by allowing users to mark Ethernet connections as Metered, but now in the latest Insider version of Windows 10 there is an indication that Microsoft will once be forcing Windows 10 users to incur uncontrolled and uncontrollable costs against their will.

Fitbit now rolling out Windows Phone app to beta testers with Call & SMS Notifications support

We reported a few weeks ago that Fitbit was collecting users for a closed beta to test the Call and SMS notification feature in Windows 10 Mobile after recent Creators Update improvements added support for the Bluetooth GATT server profile. Now on their support forums Fitbit has announced that the beta is now live. Those who provided a valid email address are now receiving an update to the Fitbit app that includes support for notifications. Beta testers need to be on the very latest Windows Insider Fast build and will receive version 2.19.983.0 of the Fitbit app.

Microsoft is releasing Game Chat Transcription feature for Xbox One and Windows 10

Microsoft today released a new pilot feature called Game Chat Transcription, which allows speech-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities on both Xbox One and Windows 10 in real time. The feature will initially come to Halo Wars 2, providing an easier way for players to chat during online matches. The feature will be rolled out to other devices at a later date. The game chat window will be able to move around the screen in order to reduce the chances of covering important areas of the game.
