Apple rolls out updates for iOS 11, watchOS 4

The iOS 11.0.2 update is fairly small but fixes some smallish bugs. If you noticed crackling sounds in the audio for iPhone 8 and 8 Plus during calls or any other time, it’s not your ears. The update fixes that as well as, according to the documentation, the bug where attachments on S/MIME encrypted emails wouldn’t open. Apparently some users have also seen an issue where some photos were hidden and the new update fixes that as well. Updating is as easy as going to Settings> General> Software Update. For watch OS 4, the 4.0.

Apple squashes the Watch Series 3 connectivity bugs in new update

You may have heard that Apple’s first LTE-enabled Apple Watch was having issues with unsecured Wi-Fi networks, which prevented the smartwatch from using its LTE connection. When out of known Wi-Fi coverage the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE would latch onto public networks that require a browser sign-in to work. Given that the watch lacks a browser it would connect to the network but not have internet. Now Apple has fixed the issue in its latest watchOS update – watchOS 4.0.1. All you need to do in order to get the fix is download iOS 11.0.

Apple’s betas are no different, which is obvious to anyone who ran iOS 11 betas over the summer. But the iOS 11.1 beta displaying a home bar at the bottom of your display is … kinda weird. While simulating the iPhone X experience may sound appealing, this glitch is a glorified watermark on your traditional iPhone display. Major Windows 10 Photos app update may be rolling out to all

Microsoft is pushing out an update to the Photos app for Windows 10, taking it to version  2017.39081.15820.0. The update brings 3 new features – the ability to search by tags, the Story Remix feature, which creates a video from your pictures and media automatically and a video editor, which lets you do the same, but manually. The features have been under extensive testing by Insiders, and after being in the Release Ring a few days ago, now appear to be rolling out to regular users on the Creators Update.

“Unknown layout specified in manifest” error takes down Windows Store for Insiders (with possible …

Since yesterday Windows 10 Insiders on Phone and PC have been complaining of an error which has made it impossible for them to use the Windows Store. The origin of the error appears to be server side and not all Insiders are affected. Microsoft is aware of this, with Dona Sarkar tweeting that they are looking into it: One suggested solution has been to Reset the Store. This can be done by going to Settings > Apps > Scroll to Store > click on Advanced Options > Press the reset button.
