Alleged 2018 iPhone spotted running Geekbench with iOS 12 and 4GB of RAM

September isn’t that far off, so it’s not implausible to see the next iPhone giving a go at popular cross-platform benchmark Geekbench. The device in question identifies itself as iPhone 11,2 and runs iOS 12 on 4GB of RAM (1GB more than the iPhone X) and a newer SoC – D321AP which suggests a newer model than the iPhone X’ D22AP. Both the single-core and multi-core results show the same ballpark performance as the iPhone X, but benchmarks are decided many times through optimization and not brute strength.

(AP) — Police say a 70-year-old Long Island math teacher gave two 16-year old students cash for nude or revealing photos and offered one of them a top-of-the-line iPhone if she’d have sex with him. Jairo Inswasty was charged Thursday with endangering the welfare of a child. He was immediately suspended from his teaching position at Central Islip High School. Suffolk County police said Inswasty paid one student $5 for a bikini photo and the other student $150 to pose for nude photos.

Apple is re-building its Maps using data gathered from iPhone users

Apple is said to be working on a new version of its navigation app, Maps. The company has started from scratch and it uses not only the data gathered from its own fleet of cars, but also from iPhone users. But of course, Apple is doing so while respecting user privacy. The new Maps will first be introduced in San Francisco and the Bay Area with the next version of IOS 12 beta. It should cover Northern California towards the end of 2018. Since it now incorporates user travel data when they open the Maps app – just like Google Maps does – it should speed up the process quite a bit.

Amazon Echo is a great hands-free voice assistant thing. We’ve used Alexa for years. Combine the two in cube form, and we’ve got the Amazon Fire TV Cube. It sits atop the three current models of Fire TV, and is sort of an offshoot in the Echo line. A more capable Echo Dot, if you will. You plug it into your TV, teach it a little bit about what all you have hooked up, and it controls things reasonably well.

watchOS 5 Developer Beta 2 Adds Walkie-Talkie

Along with iOS 12 developer beta 2 for iPhone and iPad, Apple released watchOS 5 developer beta to for Apple Watch on Tuesday. The update adds support for Walkie-Talkie, the person-to-person voice chat feature Apple showed off at its Worldwide Developer Conference at the beginning of June. Walkie-Talkie lets you voice chat through your Apple Watch with other Apple Watch owners who are in your Contacts. The feature works locally and when you aren’t on the same network. watchOS 5 won’t get a public beta, unlike iOS 12.
