Steam Link coming to mobile platforms

Steam Link, the application that serves games played via Steam to a connected television, is coming to mobile devices, Valve announced today. A Steam Link app is due to launch May 21 for Android and iOS devices, Valve said. If these devices are connected to a 5 Ghz network (or wired by ethernet), users may play their full library of Steam games. The Steam Link app for mobile devices will support the Steam Controller, MFi controllers and other peripherals.

Apple releases fourth developer betas for…

Less than a week after Apple released the third betas for iOS 11.4, tvOS 11.4, and watchOS 4.3.1, the company is back with its fourth round of developer betas. As expected, the release notes list only very minor changes, and although Messages in iCloud and AirPlay 2 support remain in place in iOS 11.4 beta 4, it’s unclear whether these will still make it into the final release. At this point, AirPlay 2 is only available with Apple TV devices running the tvOS 11.4 beta, although the HomePod will presumably get a similar 11.

Surface Studio gets a firmware update for Xbox Wireless Adapter reliability

This week, Microsoft released a driver update for its Surface Studio all-in-one PC, the first such update that the device has received since January 10. Today’s update is small, which just a fix for compatibility with the Xbox Wireless Adapter, a USB dongle that allows you to wirelessly connect an Xbox One controller. Microsoft’s Surface Studio gets first firmware update in months

Microsoft’s Surface Studio’s received a small firmware update this week that had one purpose; to improve the device’s connectivity with the Xbox Wireless Adapter accessory which can be used to connect an Xbox Controller. The update name is officially, “Xbox – Network adapters – 1.0.45.4,” and its description is, “Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows – Network adapters 1.0.45.4 improves reliability of the Xbox Wireless Adapter.” It’s not a major update but it should be appreciated by those who rely on the adapter for their gaming.

Microsoft talks about what happened to the Courier at Build 2018

The Microsoft Courier. The canceled legendary dual-screen computer from 2010 made a brief appearance during a session at Build 2018 today. In the session, Jon Friedman, a designer who worked on the courier, talked a little bit about what Courier was and why Microsoft decided to cancel the product. The story isn’t one we didn’t already know, but it’s nice to have a more official account on the matter. In short, the reason it was canceled is because it didn’t fit in with what Microsoft were doing in the Windows space at the time.

Microsoft support changes mind about Windows 10 April 2018 Update for Windows Mobile

A few days ago we reported that a newly updated Microsoft support page suggested the April 2018 update for Windows 10 was being made available for select Windows 10 Mobile handset. At the time we suggested the most likely reason was an error by an overenthusiastic intern. Now that intern must have had a talking to, as the page has been reverted today back to the Fall Creators Update.
