Sea of Thieves companion app now available for Android and iOS

Rare’s action-adventure game Sea of Thieves has just made its debut on Xbox One and PC, so if you’ve already played it and want a little bit more, Microsoft has just released the companion app for the game.The companion app is basically an interactive world map that will help players navigate the Sea of Thieves. Windows 10 preview build 17107 now available for Insiders in the Fast ring

Microsoft has started rolling out a new Windows 10 preview build for Insiders in the Fast ring today, pushing the build number up to 17107. Unlike recent builds, 17107 doesn’t contain a massive list of new features. However, it does bring a new method for PCs to handle updates when connected to AC power. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Now Available on iOS and Android in USA

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now officially available on smartphones in the US. Hot on the heels of Fortnite‘s iOS launch (which was limited to being invite only for now), PUBG is now available to download for everyone on the App Store and on Google Play in the US. Over the next few days, it will be rolling out to all countries around the world. PUBG has until now been available only in China for mobile; by being available to a wide audience on iOS and Android, PUBG beats Fortnite to mobile, just as Fortnite beat PUBG to consoles.

The Amazon Kindle app for iOS devices, which is designed to allow Amazon-purchased ebooks to be read on the iPhone and iPad, was today updated with several new features.On compatible iPad models, there’s now support for Split View, so you can use the Amazon Kindle app side-by-side with other apps for multitasking while reading.In addition to Split View support, today’s update adds continuous scrolling, a feature that lets you scroll through books like you would an iPad. You can activate the option by going to Settings and turning on continuous scrolling.

Microsoft announces $250000 bounty program for Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities

Microsoft yesterday announced a limited time bounty program for speculative execution side channel vulnerabilities. Speculative Execution Side Channels are a hardware vulnerability class that affects CPUs from multiple manufacturers including Intel and AMD. The recent Spectre and Meltdown issues come under this category. Microsoft is announcing this bounty program to encourage research into the new class of vulnerability and the mitigations Microsoft has put in place to help mitigate this type of issues.

Windows 10 Mobile’s March cumulative update now rolling out

It may be lagging behind Microsoft’s other Windows 10 updates, but March’s Patch Tuesday update for Windows 10 Mobile is now rolling out. Coming in at build number 15254.313, the update is listed as KB4090912 and includes a fix for a lingering issue with opening PDFs in Microsoft Edge. Additionally, all of the improvements Microsoft rolled out to Windows 10 version 1703 this month are also included. AAEON to work with microsoft to develop Windows 10 IoT supported motherboard with NXP …

March 16, 2018 – AAEON, a developer of embedded computer boards and IOT gateway systems, is working with Microsoft to develop a motherboard that incorporates NXP processors and supports the Windows 10 IoT Core operating system. AAEON announced the venture at the recent Embedded World trade fair in Nuremburg, Germany. Integrating the usability and familiarity of this Windows OS with ARM CPUs gives developers more options and it also brings Microsoft computing to the low power consumption, mobile market.

Apple’s Face ID unlocking feature on the iPhone X is a joy to use. It almost feels like there’s no passcode to your phone as it’s such a seamless experience. A new ad released by the company takes this to a literal extreme. The ad starts with a student unlocking their iPhone X with Face ID. But then she proceeds to unlock every locker as she walks down the hallway by simply looking at it, the core argument for Face ID over Touch ID. However, this extends further as the girl continues to unlock doors, opens drawers, and even the gymnasium’s supply garage.
